PRACTICALS

This particular retreat in January 2023 is held in the spirit of dana: An ancient Pali word meaning something akin to giving, offering, generosity.

The work itself is offered on a donation basis. There are base costs of food and accommodation which need to be paid upfront, but the rest of what is exchanged is dependant entirely on each individual.

We will be held at Bala Brook, a beautiful dedicated retreat centre and gem of a place on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, Devon, UK.

Set in a secluded valley, Bala Brook is a haven of a place. The main house and modern glass Shraddha space are set within stunning, lovingly stewarded land; with woodland, river winding through and walks straight out onto the open moor and nearby ancient hut-circles.

The nearest station is Totnes, we can arrange pick-up and drop-off from there.

Address: Bala Brook Retreat Centre, South Brent, Devon TQ10 9ED

Food & Accommodation Costs

The basic costs include four nights accommodation in a private room to yourself, and all meals of lovingly made, nourishing vegetarian food.

We would like these costs to be lower, but because of the small group size and participant/spaceholder ratios necessary for this work, and the very lovely venue which was booked before this became a dana-based retreat, this is what we’ve been able to get to. There is no additional margin, these are actual costs only, balanced between the different accommodations.

  • Simple, comfortable single room with shared bathroom: £385

  • Double room to yourself with ensuite: £435

  • Single with ensuite, or spacious double with shared bathroom: £410

Payment plans can be arranged. It’s generally possible for these payment plans to extend beyond the date of the retreat if needed.

Donations for the work can be made at the end of the retreat.

NEXT STEPS

Feeling the pull?

The next step is to arrange an informal chat with me, Zazie.

This is a chance to feel one another, and see if there is a resonance from both sides to enter into this work together. It is absolutely not a sales call, and there is also no pressure to sell yourself and your suitability for the retreat. You can just bring yourself, exactly where you are, and together we’ll explore whether the alignment and timing feels right.

This is primarily intuitive. It may be a clear and immediate yes from both sides, or we may need time to feel into it.

But generally, if you feel a pull to this work, there’s a reason. When you read through the retreat descriptions, if there is a sense of a draw from your body; an enlivening, a knowing in your heart which you may not be able to explain, even if rationally you’re not quite sure why or even what all this is about… that’s what I would suggest following.

On the call you’ll also receive some further information about the structure of the retreat and some of the elements involved. The retreats are a ceremonially held space which span several days; it is very different to some other kinds of retreats which might have more of a holiday feeling.

In order for us all to drop deeply into the space together, it’s important that there is unity in the energetic intention. The way I’d describe the intention of the Cocoon, broadly, is transformation. This can mean many things.

You may be bringing specific difficulties which you wish to move through, or it may be something less explainable. You might have a feeling that there is something wanting to move through you which you don’t yet know. You may be stepping into or moving toward something a new expression in your life, and feeling the layers that need to move into new places. You don’t have to know what it is. But you can feel the pull toward the heart of the cocoon, knowing something is wanting to unfold there for you.
